Misba Abdin is a generous social entrepreneur committed to serving other and working to improve quality of life for all New Yorkers. He came to the USA in 1982. He was born in Beani Bazar of the Sylhet District in Bangladesh. Misba is a businessman by professional and currently the CEO of Deshi Senior Center in Ozone Park, New York. He is the product of the New York City Public School system where he went from Public School 214K to MS/Is 171 and graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School. He went on to study Business Management at Hunter College of the City University of New York. He is well read and can tell you the history of almost any document that has been on the must see/read list over the last twenty-five years.
During the year 2009 Misba founded the Bangladeshi American Community Development and Youth Services organization which is the leading nonprofit organization in the City Line section of East New York, Brooklyn which he is the Founder/CEO. He was inspired to create BACDYS after seeing the positive impact the Bangladesh Sports Council had on local youth. Also services were needed for the entire families. The organization wanted to give the adults the skills, confidence and knowledge they needed to change their lives focusing on affordable housings, education, youth programs and entertainment.
The Annual Multi-Cultural Festival was official started 2010 by Misba and held at the Municipal Parking Lot on Pitkin and Grant Avenue in the City Line section of East New York. This is something he is most pride of because it brings many families together.
Misba is considered a mover and a shaker will not take “no” for and answer and will give you the shirt off his back if you ask for it. He is a product of a retail family.
